‘Jurassic World’ Breaking Box Office Records – Despite Mixed Reviews

After reading all those mixed reviews on Fandango where 10 critics gave the movie only an average rating of 59 out of 100, I did not expect much going into the movie Jurassic World.
But it is interesting that 30,279 fans give it 5 stars, and I thought so many people can’t be wrong.

According to Yahoo News “Jurassic World,” the fourth film in the series, became the highest global opener of all time with a staggering $511.8 million in its first days in theaters. It also devoured a number of domestic box office records with a $204.6 million take, the Rentrak media-measurement company estimated on Sunday”.

The numbers speak for themselves and I was pleasantly surprised by Jurassic World. It had likeable characters, villains, good action scenes and quite a few good lines! For example after rescuing the new employee out of the raptor’s cage ” Did you ever wonder why that job position was open?”

To the critics who call it “cheesy” I can only say it is good, fun entertainment, and after 14 years without a “Jurassic” movie, very exciting!
Add to this an actor like Chris Pratt who donates his time to show up in costume in a children’s hospital, or posts on Facebook a video of himself teaching his little son the Pledge of Allegiance, and we ask what is there not to like?

As seen on CBS News Chris Pratt sang “Margaritaville” on stage with Jimmy Buffett at the after-party of the premiere for Jurassic World.
If you watch closely during the movie you can see a ‘Margaritaville’ bar on the main street in Jurassic World and a cameo of the real Jimmy Buffett running away from the dinosaurs with two margaritas in his hands.

After coming home from the movie I tweeted my excitement over the movie and noticed my tweet got liked by one of the actresses in the movie Courtney James Clark @Courtjclark. I asked if she was the Mosasaurus Announcer as titled in the cast and her reply was

“I need a Hero!”- We all need more Superheroes!

Superheroes

We were writing in an earlier article how CGI is making a lot of Marvel’s Superheroes possible, and that we are looking forward to seeing those in movie theaters soon.
Lately there has been a lot of criticism of Superhero movies, and lets face it, none of those will ever be nominated for any award!
Deadline just published this article about the “loser geeks” at San Diego Comic-Con.

Umberto Gonzalez, who can be found on Twitter at @elmaimbe, wrote June 1st this article for Heroic Hollywood asking for it to be shared with everybody who loves Superheroes!

He made a good point about why we needed Heroes, they inspire us and are great role models for kids and adults. Please check out the video of Zachary Frost a young, talented filmmaker, that he shared.

Avengers: Age of Ultron came out May 1st, next is Jurassic World with Chris Pratt. The Marvel movie Ant-Man will premiere July 17th in the U.S. The plot is about con-man Scott Lang who has to embrace his inner hero armed in a super suit with the amazing ability to shrink in size but increase in strength, to save the world. It stars among others Evangeline Lily, who we just saw in The Hobbit BOFA.

From The A-hole Boyfriend To Star Lord, To Jurassic World….The New Hot Ticket Chris Pratt!

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt has come a long way from the chubby, funny Andy in Parks and Rec to change into Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy according to Daily Actor,

“Since then, he has undergone a big physical transformation to take the lead role in Guardians of the Galaxy. He is in great physical condition, prompting many internet posts about how he’s shed his ‘dad-bod’ image. He has just been announced in the lineup for the Magnificent 7 remake, and will also soon be back on the big screen as the lead in Jurassic World. A far cry from the man who said he was once typecast in the same two roles over and over.”

But thanks to his sense of humor and talent for comedy he moved away from that. Gradually directors started to realize it, and there are lots of laughs in Guardians of the Galaxy, plus some really good music!

Now we are looking forward to the release of Jurassic World on June 12th watching all the interviews and the #JurassicParkGlobalPressTour ! You can follow Chris on Face Book or Twitter for the latest updates!

Among other things we really love how Chris is a great guy paying his debts by donating his time to visit children in hospitals in full Star-Lord costume per NY Daily News

We also enjoyed this video that he posted himself on his Face Book page about teaching his little son the pledge of the Allegiance!

With all this said we are looking forward to the premiere of Jurassic World and will watch Chris Pratt on Social Media wishing him the best for his future career!
