Twitter loves Star Wars and in the lead up to The Force Awakens landing in theaters December 18, we will see many exciting things.
We already had the release of the teaser trailer, on Thanksgiving Friday 2014 and the hugely anticipated first teaser trailer shared with the fandom at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim last month. Most agreed that the way Lucasfilm chose to introduce the clip was perfect. Letting fans from all around the world join in a global live stream feed proved to be brilliant and got everyone even more excited than they already are.
We still have many months until December and we are sure to see many more surprises from the studio. So let’s take a look at what Star Wars Twitter accounts you should be following so you don’t miss a thing.
@StarWars
This is the account to follow for all things Star Wars. They have all the latest information, so make sure you hit that following button.
@StarWarsUK
A special account for fans in the U.K. will keep them updated with all Star Wars news on Twitter. If you’re in England this is where you need to be.
@HamillHimself
Yes, original cast member Mark Hamill, himself, is on Twitter, which is pretty cool for us who are fans of the original trilogy, the one that started it all. Mark is relatively active on Twitter and is sure to be even more so, as the big day draws near.
@carriefisher
Princess Leia is another cast member on Twitter and she is quite eccentric in her tweets, just as she seems to be in person. Make sure you check out Carrie Fisher on Twitter.
@JohnBoyega
We are learning more and more about new Star Wars cast member John Boyega, who plays the renegade Stormtrooper, Finn in The Force Awakens. Since his co-star. Daisy Ridley (Rey) is not on Twitter, chances are you will see her show up in some of the stuff John shares with fans. Get following!
@ADaniels3PO
Who doesn’t love C3PO? Well now you can get to know him even better by following another original cast member Anthony Daniels. We are excited to see our golden friend again and he seems equally excited to return to The Force Awakens.
@TheWookieRoars
“Chewie, we’re home,” Harrison Ford (Han Solo) said at the end of The Force Awakens trailer and the fandom exploded with excitement. It is good to see another original cast member on Twitter. Follow Peter Mayhew to see what he’s up to.
@lovegwendoline
Gwendoline Christie was introduced as Captain Phasma, a female member of the Dark Side, chasing after our friend Finn. She is mad, she is tough, she is a strong Star Wars woman and she’s on Twitter. You can also see her on the HBO hit series, Game of Thrones.
@realOscarIsaac
Oscar Isaac made a big impression in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he kind of is on Twitter. The Guatemala-born actor, who is about to become a household name, joined in 2011, but only tweeted once. We’ll see if all the excitement makes him take to Twitter now.
@Lupita_Nyongo
Lupita brings her star power to The Force Awakens, having received an Academy Award for her work on 12 Years A Slave. Now she will play the CGI character, Maz Kanata, which looks incredibly cool. Get following!
@ActorKennyBaker
R2 D2 is on Twitter! Kenny Baker is another of the original Star Wars cast members who joined Twitter a few years ago and now will surely be tweeting about Episode VII more actively, we hope. Stay tuned.
@Bad_Robot
Bad Robot is Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams’ production company and many interesting things are tweeted here on a regular basis. For example, last year, when Abrams and Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman) were playing a little Twitter game (to fans’ delight) he posted a very cool teaser he called Hunka Junk. Who knows, we can have other goodies in store.
Those are the main Star Wars cast members on Twitter at this time, we shouldn’t loose hope that others may join between now and December 18. One last cool Star Wars related Twitter account to share with you is the vintage @StarWars7783, which shares really great stuff from the original trilogy.
Do you know of any other Star Wars Twitter accounts?
