The royal baby has finally arrived and William and Kate, breaking a long standing tradition for the British monarchy, made the announcement on Twitter.
After days of speculation as to when Prince George’s little brother or sister would arrive and what was Kate Middleton’s due date, we can announce that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed a baby girl into their family.
According to the official announcement, Kate — accompanied by her husband, Prince William — was admitted to Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital at 6 a.m. local time and the new royal baby was born at 8:34 a.m. (quite a quick delivery after days of waiting). The Princess weighed 8-pounds, three-ounces and is expected to go home in a couple of days. Both mom and daughter are doing great.
Here is how Clarence House announced the happy news to the world on Twitter:

William and Kate broke centuries of tradition, announcing the birth of their baby girl, exclusively on Twitter for the first time ever. As recently as when their firstborn, Prince George was born, in 2013, such events were made public with an easel, which was placed at the doors of Buckingham Palace to be read by all. At the moment #royalbaby is the top trend on Twitter.
William and Kate have not made the new Duchess of Cambridge’s name public yet, but there is much speculation as to whether they will honor his late mother, Princess Diana. Words of congratulations from all around the world continue to be posted on Twitter. Congratulations to the happy family on the birth of the royal baby!
What do you think the royal baby’s name will be?
